Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped

Clean cotton cloth or sock: 1

Step-by-Step

Chop the onion and warm it gently — steamed or briefly in a dry pan — until just warm, not hot.

Wrap it in the cloth and fold into a small pad.

Hold the pad against the outside of the sore ear for 15 to 20 minutes.

Tips

Nothing goes into the ear canal — the pad rests against the outer ear only.
